It takes a village to raise a child. Parenting Group is that village for our children. Parenting Group is an inclusive group, the only criteria to become a member is to love your own children. But there is also an implicit rule after joining the group that all members not only love their own children, but also children in our community. It’s the later which set us apart. Members immediately feel the love and warmness after they join the group. It now becomes a premium group in the community. I feel proud to be the leader of this amazing group, because like everyone else, I am also benefiting from all member’s contribution. I also apply the win-win principle in my everyday life, in order to build positive relationship with community partners and engage and build up core-leadership group members and volunteers including youth. We ran the successful 2018 and 2019 children’s talent fest, which had a combined 600 participants, among which around 350 were children less than 13. We also engaged over 35 youth volunteers which provided 175 community hours, and also many parent volunteers to allow them to gain organizational and leadership skills.
I really miss our children’s talent fest.
